How introverted or extroverted are you?
Some people get tons of energy from parties and socializing, while others recharge by relaxing on the couch at home. We call them extroverts and introverts.
Brain research shows that these differences are actually visible in your brain. In introverts, the prefrontal cortex, the area responsible for thinking and planning, is often more active. They process information more deeply and are more sensitive to stimuli. Extroverts, on the other hand, often have a more active reward system in their brain. They need more external stimulation to feel good. There also appear to be differences in the response to neurotransmitters like dopamine.
Most people don't fall completely on one side or the other. This in-between zone is called ambiversion. And that's probably where most of the population is. Ambiverts behave flexibly: sometimes you want to be around people, sometimes you just want some peace and quiet.
Who is this poster for?
This poster is for introverts, extroverts, and ambiverts: anyone who enjoys reflecting on their own wiring and that of others. It can provide insight into other people's behavior in the workplace, at school, or simply at home. Because maybe you sometimes don't understand a reaction, or you're frustrated that you always seem to react later. By recognizing that the difference might be due to a difference in temperament, you can better accept and understand yourself and others.
How can you use this picture?
You can use this poster to start a conversation about your own and others' social needs, different approaches to decision-making, brainstorming, and communication.
Available sizes
You can purchase this worksheet in various formats:
- Download PDF file - A3 format. Also printable in A4*.
- Buy a physical A3 poster - sturdy matte white paper.
* You can also print an A3 PDF on A4 paper using a standard A4 printer. When printing, select "fit to paper size" or a similar setting in the settings. The wording will be slightly different for each printer. Because A3 and A4 have the same aspect ratio, the A3 PDF will fit perfectly on A4 paper. Of course, everything will be much smaller; I designed the image for A3.
