Dreaming and realizing together
The government aims for inclusive education by 2035: education close to home, where all children learn together and go to school together. Ten years may sound a long way off, but many schools are already working on this. This poster will help you start the conversation and get started with your team using the Appreciative Inquiry method.
Who is this chat sheet for?
For schools that want to start thinking now about how they will shape inclusive education, and want to do so in a positive way. Appreciative Inquiry, also known as Appreciative Inquiry, is a way to initiate change within an organization. Instead of focusing on what's going wrong, you focus on what's already going well. You look for strengths, successes, and positive experiences.
The idea is that people work best when they focus on positive things and come up with solutions together. This often involves four steps:
- Storytelling – looking together at what is already going well and what people are proud of.
- Imagining – dreaming of what the ideal outcome might look like.
- Shaping – making plans to make that dream possible.
- Make it a reality – think of a concrete first step that you can take now.
This way of working is energizing and makes collaboration easier and more enjoyable! It often works better than focusing on problems and obstacles.
How can you use this picture?
Appreciative Inquiry can also be used effectively to work towards inclusive education in 2035. Instead of just looking at problems, you focus on what is already going well in your school: what works for students with different backgrounds, talents and needs.
For example, you'll look for examples of successful collaboration, effective guidance, and ways to engage students. Then, together, you'll dream up what inclusive education could look like in 2035, create plans to achieve it, and take the next step.
This creates positive energy: everyone feels heard, strong ideas are used and changes happen together.
Available sizes
You can purchase this plate in different forms:
- Download PDF file - A3 format, choice of two color schemes: yellow-green and pink-green. Also printable in A4*.
- Buy a physical A3 poster – waterproof and tearproof.
* You can also print an A3 PDF on A4 paper using a standard A4 printer. When printing, select "fit to paper size" or a similar setting in the settings. The wording will be slightly different for each printer. Because A3 and A4 have the same aspect ratio, the A3 PDF will fit perfectly on A4 paper. Of course, everything will be much smaller; I designed the image for A3.
